Greyhound Football Loses Home Opener 30-16 vs. Independence

The Greyhound football team dropped the home opener to Independence on Saturday night at Frary Field 30-16 to drop to 0-2 this season. The Greyhounds for a second straight week right in the mix at halftime, this time trailing 14-10 at the intermission against the Pirates but turnovers and timely plays by ICC doomed the Greyhounds in week two as the Greyhounds were outscored 16-6 in the second half. 

Kicker Brody Southwell had a solid game making all three of his field goal attempts from 40-plus yards out. The lone touchdown for FSCC was scored in the second quarter as Dalton Sneed connected with Ed Aldred from 15-yards out. 

Turnovers were the big stat for the Greyhounds as they turned the ball over six times with four interceptions and two fumbles.

Sneed finished the game completing 11 of 24 passes for 105 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. Garrett Sharpe saw some time at QB completing five of eight passes for 73 yards and an interception. Damon Bonds rushed for 103 yards on 19 carries and Kyle Harrison caught three passes for 69 yards. FSCC outgained Independence in the game 350-282 in total yards. 

The Greyhounds focus their work week on a top-15 team in Iowa Western as FSCC will travel to Council Bluffs, IA for a week three tilt this Saturday.
